DDGM's Message

Brethren,

How quickly time passes. Just two years ago, M. W. Bro. Raymond S .J. Daniels was installed as Grand Master, and proclaimed his challenging theme, taken from Proverbs: Get Knowledge; get Wisdom; but with all thy getting, get Understanding. Over this past Masonic year of 2010 -2011, it has been my privilege and responsibility to represent the Grand Master in St. Lawrence District and promote this theme, and I am very grateful for having had this opportunity.

It has been an enjoyable personal experience visiting the Lodges and watching as the Brethren deliberate business with care, present ritual with moving dignity and decorum, and dispense hospitality with genuine warmth. I have been both moved and humbled by the generosity of spirit and the personal acts of charity and mercy that I have seen. At every turn I have witnessed the highest principles of Masonry being quietly practiced both by Lodges and by individual Brethren, and have been constantly reminded of the words of the General Charge in the Ceremony of Installation & Investiture. Brethren, Masonry is alive and well in St. Lawrence, and it is beautiful to behold.

Before this term runs its course, I wish to express my sincerest appreciation to those who have come before and set the good example, and I also wish to extend my very best wishes to those who are following and striving to do their very best. For all of us, the Grand Master's great challenge remains: Get Knowledge; get Wisdom; but with all thy getting, get Understanding.
